GLOW BOOSTING WITH SOAP & GLORY'S 'BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL' SERUM!

My skin has certainly been a little lacklustre as we slowly creep out of the colder months of the year in the UK. My skin isn't dry, but it is dehydrated and frequently not getting enough sleep doesn't help!

I picked up this '6-in-1 energising radiance serum'  (£13) from Soap and Glory hoping that it could help make me look a little more awake when I head out the door at 7:30. I've never tried anything from Soap and Glory that I didn't like, so I had high hopes.

I have to admit, initially when I used this underneath moisturiser... I didn't really think it did much - or at least not enough that it would show through my foundation.

So... I switched up my method. I'm currently using the L'Oreal Infallible Matte foundation which does set down to a very matte, mid-high coverage finish. If I feel like I need a little more glow to my skin (aka most days), I'll mix 2 parts foundation with 1 part serum and make my own super-glowy non oily foundation combination. This way the glow from the serum doesn't get masked by the foundation! I've not tried this with other foundations - I'd imagine that it might not work so well with foundations which are already leaning towards the 'dewy' side.

I love the finish this product gives when mixed into my foundations - for me I loved the longevity and colour match of the Infallible matte foundation but thought it was just a little too matte for my skin type.

I'd love to know if you have any glow-boosting recommendations for me!

Una Brennan: Super Facialist Rose Calming Creamy Cleanser

I have a weird relationship with cleansers... I never know which type suits my skin best and tend to find the balm-y type ones a little oily for me and I struggle to get everything off, leaving me with a thin film of oiliness over my face - not fun.

I'd just finished a tube of the Soap and Glory 'The Ultimelt' which I liked, but I didn't love. So I took to the aisles of Boots for an affordable cleanser which would do the job...

In steps the Una Brennan Rose Calming Creamy Cleanser (£7.99)

Unsurprisingly, the first thing I noticed about the cleanser is that it's VERY Rose-y, if you don't like Rose scents then steer clear, but you could have probably figured that out for yourselves. I like the packaging also, it's nothing special - but to be honest that's what I need around my bathroom sink /shower where I frequently knock things over. It's a lot thicker than you'd expect from the packaging - almost like a cleanser you'd find in a tub, only less annoying to use.

I find when I rub this over my face, it almost disappears slightly into my skin. I almost don't believe it's actualy going to do anything, as my make up looks un-moved underneath. Alas, I wipe a hot flannel across my face and squeaky clean skin appears beneath it.

I would say its not amazing at removing eye make up... but I use a few swipes of the trusty L'Oreal Micellar Gel Eye Make Up Remover which I wrote a post about here , and this takes away any excess that it misses.

Now I was blessed with awkward dry-but-also-oily skin, so I tend to steer clear of anything especially for oily or especially for dry skin, but this aims to hydrate skin and doesn't seem to upset the balance of my skin. My face has a tendency so get pretty angry with me post-cleanse (I'm talking red, blotchy and irritated - not fun) but this cleanser is so gentle and doesn't irritate me at all. In fact, my skin is left feeling soft, smooth and clean.

I really like this as an affordable drugstore cleanser, and wish I had tried some Una Brennan products sooner! If you guys have tried any other Una Brennan stuff I would love to hear some suggestions for more products to try.
